Royals vs. Spokane game 5

Game five did not turn out the way the Royals or the sell-out crowd at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre would have liked. The Royals again without injured captain Joe Hicketts ran into hot goaltender Lasse Petersen and fell to the Spokane Chiefs 4-1. Game six goes tonight in  Spokane and with a  Royals win they will move on to face either Kamloops or Kelowna in the next round.

The Go-Pro camera shows how fast the play moves and how potentially dangerous it can be  between the benches if you are not following the play.

Times Colonist reporter Cleve Dheensaw wrote a great article in this mornings newspaper.  I was also proud of the fans for their show of appreciation, even after a home team loss, toward Spokane goaltender Lasse Petersen when he was announced the first star after an incredible performance stoping 44 of 45 shots.

I had seen Outhouse do this in a previous game and I wanted the photo. The next time he started at home was game five. It seems like a pretty basic shot but the nerve racking part came in the moments after as I had to make it around the boards past the Royals players and jump into the media box between the benches before the officials dropped the puck without slipping.
