Spracklen

On October 30th, 2016 Mike Spracklen returned to Victoria after being let go by rowing Canada in 2012 to be inducted into the Greater Victoria Sports hall of fame. The following morning a collection of rowers he coached from 1992 to 2012 returned to Elk Lake. The University of Victoria lent us a boat and at 11am coxswain Brian Price, Barney Williams, Mike Rasher, Andrew Hoskins, Malcolm Howard, Tom Herschmiller, Dominic Seiterle, John Wallace, Joe Stankevicius and myself went for a row. The strokes were well timed, the rhythm was together and the balance was as you would expect from this level of crew.

Check Television was on hand and put together two videos with interviews and rowing footage of the crew and I was able to ride the first loop with Mike and then replace Barney rowing for the second loop.

I’m not sure once learned you ever forget rhythm, timing and holding the finish.
