Argentines prove too hot for Canada at West”Chills” Stadium.

Saturday night rain and snow came together and blanketed Westhills Stadium in Langford  as Canada played host to Argentina for an Americas Rugby Championship game. Temperatures hovered just a few degrees above zero as players did there best to run, kick, catch and tackle in the cold temperatures.

Times Colonist sports reporter Cleve Dheensaw quoted Canadian captain Gordon McRorie  as saying the conditions were “God awful”

I selected a group of photos that I hope illustrate how nasty the playing conditions were and how Canada and Argentina both entertained the fans until the final whistle.

A coating of snow remained on the Westhills pitch as the temperature hovered just above freezing and the rain began to fall.
