The Royal Visit

Wish I had known at the beginning of the Royal tour what I had learnt by the end. But it was still one of the best experience I have had as a photographer.

Prince William emerged from the airbus holding hands with Prince George who was wearing dark blue shorts with a light blue sweater. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge carried Princess Charlotte in her arms while wearing a blue Jenny Packham ‎dress with a blue Lock and Co. hat and a Queen’s maple leaf brooch. The Royals couple said their trip will focus on the environment, support for young families and mental health initiatives with Prince William stating that “Catherine and I have asked to meet as many people from as many walks of life as we can while we’re here.’’

Young princess Charlotte hugged her mother close while she knelt down to hold George’s hand as he was interested in a military helicopter that landed across from where their plane had just touched down.

A tiny dress for Princess Charlotte was seen amongst Prince William, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince George’s luggage whilst it was being unpacked at the Victoria International Airport prior to the start of their eight day tour.

The royal couple was greeted first on the Tarmac by Governor General David Johnston and his wife. Followed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau. Also on the Tarmac was B.C. Premier Christy Clark and her son, Hamish.

Britain’s Prince William applauds Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his speech as he and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge were officially welcomed by an estimated crowd of 25,000 surrounding the B.C. legislature in downtown Victoria, British Columbia. The Prime Minister said “As any parent who has travelled with children knows, it is a whole different experience when you bring your family with you. I want to commend you and thank you for introducing our part of the world to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.’’

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge interacts with a few of the estimated 25,000 fans who attended the official welcome ceremony outside the B.C. legislature some who had been waiting since before sunrise to get a spot, more than 10 hours before the royal couple’s arrival.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge share a smile during a cultural sharing ceremony at the Wawiskas Community Hall in Bella Bella. Unfortunately the aerial tour of the Great Bear Rainforest and a boat tour of Bella Bella Harbour was cancelled due to poor weather.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are surrounded by performers during a cultural sharing ceremony at the Wawiskas Community Hall. Bella Bella is the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world and home of the Kermode bears or “spirit bears,” a sub-species of black bear noted for its white fur.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge watch a magical dance that highlighted the many animals that provide spiritual, cultural and life-sustaining sustenance to the Haida. One dancer wore a frog mask and jumped in front of the Prince and Duchess before turning and hopping out the open back door at the Haida Heritage Centre and Museum at Kaay Llnagaay in Haida Gwaii.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William speak with children at the new hospital and health care centre, located in the Village of Queen Charlotte. The new facility will ensure long-term care and will help Northern Health clinicians and staff to continue to deliver client-focused health care services in a modern environment improving outcomes for patients.
