ATLANTA PHOTOJOURNALISM CONTEST Entry
The photos I decided to enter in the Atlanta Photojournalism Contest A few of the rules are Entry $49 entry fee, content must have been captured between Nov. 1, 2015 and Nov. 10, 2016, 15 entries max per person, each picture story may contain a maximum of 12 images.
Entering photo contests and competition forces me to review my work and practice my editing skills which is always good. I’m not where I want to be but I can see progress which is motivating. Thank you to all the photographers and photo editors who have taken the time with me over the past year.
Feature – Usually a found situation with strong human interest; a fresh view of an everyday scene. Being a former athlete I have a lot of sports contacts and a lot of my photos are focused on sports but I also really enjoy searching for feature photos and interacting with people to make a portrait.

I entered three Sports Photo Stories. Not surprisingly – Hockey which I spent my youth playing, Rowing which I spent half my life doing and an Olympics which was a goal of mine to win since was 21 years old. My high school teachers always told me write about what you know so I followed their advice in this case.

Lucerne Rowing World Cup/Rio Olympic Qualification regatta.
Other than Elk Lake the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland is the nicest place I have ever rowed. I have raced there eight times, once as a spare and once this year as photographer.

Yawning may provide a competitive advantage, as it stimulates a structure in the brain that affects consciousness and attentional focus. Yawning also regulates the temperature and metabolism of the brain and cooling down the frontal lobes allows for greater concentration. Obee and Jennerich would go on to win their semi-final as well as the final the following day placing them amongst the favourites to win at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Rio Olympics 2016
I feel so lucky to be able to photograph the Olympic Games. CBC treats me, the other athletes and its employees so well it is amazing to call myself part of their Olympic broadcast team.
